Pope Field is a military facility located 12 miles (19 km) northwest of the central business district of Fayetteville, in Cumberland County, North Carolina. Formerly known as Pope Air Force Base, the facility continues to be used by the U.S. Air Force but is now operated by the U.S. Army as part of Fort Bragg.

Camp Mackall is an active U.S. Army training facility located in eastern Richmond County and northern Scotland County, North Carolina, south of the town of Southern Pines. The facility is in close proximity to and is a sub-installation of Fort Bragg (home to the XVIII Airborne Corps, the 82nd Airborne Division and the U.S. Army Special Operations Command Headquarters). Camp Mackall is the setting of primary training to become a member of U.S. Army Special Forces. Inside the camp is the Resistance Training Laboratory, a mock prisoner-of-war camp in which special operations forces soldiers are trained in resistance techniques for use if captured by enemy combatants.

Fort Bragg is a large United States Army installation, located in Cumberland, Hoke, Harnett & Moore counties, North Carolina, mostly in Fayetteville but also partly in the town of Spring Lake. It was a census-designated place in the 2010 Census, with a population of 39,457. The fort is named for Confederate general Braxton Bragg. It covers over 251 square miles (650 km2). It’s home to the US Army airborne forces & Special Forces, as well as U.S. Army Forces Command & U.S. Army Reserve Command.
