For those of you wanting to stay at the KMC (Kilauea Military Camp) Reservations up to a year in advance…808 967-8333. This camp allows active duty, retired, and Veterans. Veterans must show DD 214 upon arrival. There is a shuttle from the airport 3X a day if you don’t want to rent a car $10. This camp has a large PX Shopette, Bowling Alley, large arcade for the kids, cottages, apartments, your choice of 1,2, or 3 bedroom cottages. Laundromat, basketball court, chapel, theater, tennis court, bar, cafe, baseball field, and tour ofice for the volcano, fire, paramedic office and security. If you are camping in a large group, they have a dorm @ $17 a night each. They have some 6 and 7 bedroom apartments for under $500 a night. Some of the smaller 2 and 3 bedroom cottages have kitchens. We had wifi when traveling thru the area. Lowest priced room is 1 bedroom at E1-E5 is $72 per night No taxes or Hawaii hospitality fee. E-6 to E-9 is $91. DoD civilians and Coasties civilians are also allowed. Remember, you have to pay extra to fly into the Big Island from any of the other Islands. Don’t know if it is possible to fly in to the Big Island from the mainland. They also has a gas station. No pets. If you just want to get away and relax, this is the place to go.
